Half-Height Crittall-Style Screens
A half-height Crittall-style screen sits on top of a low wall, kitchen unit or joinery base, usually from around dado height to the ceiling. It keeps storage or a radiator below while bringing light in above.
Suits: Kitchens, hallways, bedrooms and offices
Getting the half-height and dado screens look right
Half-height screens are useful where you cannot lose wall space: behind a sofa, above a kitchen run, or along a corridor with radiators. They are also a common way to open up a stud wall without moving services in the lower half.
We set the bottom rail level with the worktop or dado line so the screen looks like part of the wall.

Questions about this style
What height should the base be?
Usually 900 to 1,000mm, which lines up with worktops and dado rails. We agree it at survey.
Can the base be glass too?
It can, but safety glazing rules apply at low level, so we use laminated or toughened glass there.
